Yesterday, our 4th and 5th-grade immersion classes welcomed elementary students from our English, Spanish, and Mandarin classrooms to take a cultural journey through Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, and China—right here at ZCS!

These students had been researching their teachers’ home cultures and were excited to share what they had learned. Each classroom hosted an open house-style event, designed to immerse visiting students and parents in the culture of the featured country. Each classroom hosted an open house-style event, immersing visiting students and parents in the culture, traditions, and daily life of the featured countries.

Visitors were treated to a rich experience of food, fashion, geography, arts, history, and language. The variety of food was a highlight in every room, with many students preparing dishes and fruits, including an octopus ceviche that Mr. Jenkins especially enjoyed!

Thank you to our teachers for sharing their home cultures and for inspiring our students to develop a curiosity about the many ways God has created His children. Events like this remind us of the beauty of God’s world and the gift it is to experience its vastness, right here in Zeeland.
